觀點是件有趣的事情：有一些被視為不朽經典的電影，可能隨著時間過去，被視作名過其實。同時，有一些在初期「翻船」的電影，可能隨著時間軸拉長，逐漸取得文化認同。當然，有些電影在經典中的王座，至今仍是屹立不搖。所以當我們深入探索BBC Culture的百大美國電影清單，我們最好把上面的東西謹記在心。
前十名的作品不是多大的驚奇。這幾年唯一改變的，依據投票結果不同，就是第一名的寶座到底應該頒給奧森威爾斯（Orson Welles）的《大國民》（Citizen Kane）還是希區考克（Alfred Hitchcock）的《迷魂記》（Vertigo）。
全球影評所提出的選擇相當有意思，即使評選的標準相當寬鬆（這些電影不需要由美國人製作，甚至也不需要在美國拍攝）。或許其中最能代表近年來，重新取得關注的電影就是麥可西米諾〈Michael Cimino〉的《天堂之門》（Heaven’s Gate）。一度被視作導演過度自負的例子，同時又以毀了一個大型工作室而聞名，它成功潛入榜單的第98名，反而是《越戰獵鹿人》（The Deer Hunter）連邊都沒搆到。
《現代啟示錄》（Apocalypse Now）在第90名帶起尾盤，而史帝夫麥昆（Steve McQueen）的《自由之心》（12 Years A Slave）仍會在接續幾年持續引發回響，因此勉強擠進排行的最後。《25小時》（25th Hour）與《王牌冤家》（Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind）是現代美國經典電影的代表，而克里斯多福諾蘭（Christopher Nolan）的《黑暗騎士》（The Dark Knight）是否應該進榜，勢必引起很多爭論。而《阿甘正傳》（Forrest Gump）雖然是很多人責難的眾矢之的，但票選這份清單的很多影評和作家，心裡一定暗暗喜歡這部作品。[Source via The Playlist]
